Why do we test buildings?
Building-performance testing helps determine how effectively a building controls heat, air, and moisture. Testing can identify air leaks, support energy-efficiency requirements, and confirm that the completed building performs as intended.
It can also help homeowners and builders make informed decisions about insulation, air barriers, ventilation, heating systems, windows, and other building components.

Testing may happen at several stages of construction. A pre-drywall test can locate leaks while they are still easy to repair. A final test measures the completed building and may be required for permits or energy-performance programs.
